— Japanese restaurant Denny’s in Springfield, Mo., opened on Friday with a menu that includes dishes like ramen noodles, sushi and karaage ramen.
Denny’s is also expanding its menu in Japan, adding two new sushi restaurants in Tokyo and Osaka.
The Japanese restaurant will be located in the basement of the Denny & Stitt building in Springfield.
The restaurant will also offer karaages, a sushi style ramen dish.
Dennys Japanese restaurant has three locations in the United States.
Springfield Mayor John B. Hargett Jr. announced in December that the Springfield-based chain of restaurants, which opened in 2008, plans to open a second location in Japan.
Hargett said Denny and Stitt have been “very, very supportive” of the Springfield restaurant.
“I think it’s going to be an incredible opportunity for Springfield, for the area, for this city and the state,” he said.
